In case you missed me

A few news items worth sharing and being aware of.

https://downfall.page/ describes a new vulnerability in the same vein as Spectre and Heartbleed: hard to detect, processing-expensive to mitigate, accessible to any process on the same physical core and applying to almost any modern intel CPU. When the first time you hear about a vuln is through its own webpage, you know it's a bad one.

Room-temp superconductive material? Probably not. Predictions market aligned.

While everyone was busy being a superconductor expert, a very promising cancer killer molecule appeared. And shortly thereafter, someone open sourced it.

I won't pretend to know what open sourcing a molecule means but the tweet says "revenge on pharma" so I'm applauding.

@knifefight picked up his AI tools and created a ridiculously gorgeous book for his daughter. Parenthood insecurity-warning: only visit if you know, for sure, you are the best mom/dad.

And finally, Marques Brownlee reviewed one year of Tesla Solar. As with all things MKBHD, the short video is a pleasure to watch in its entirety but here are my takeaways:

  • $100k setup with enormous rebate
  • Should get back in the money within 10 years
  • includes 3 powerwalls
  • Power-net positive over 12 months, despite being negative in winter
  • This is positive for the homeowner, and it removes load on the grid.

Feel free to reply to this and let me know I should keep writing. Much love.
